Following the destruction of Seneca villages and crops by American forces under Daniel Brodhead in 1779, Seneca chief Kayahsotaˀ (Guyasuta) led a hundred warriors, combined with 60 British soldiers, to attack and destroy Hannastown, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 1782. In September, Kayahsotaˀ went on to lay siege to Fort Henry, West Virginia, unsuccessfully.
