Protesters blocked a main road to the monument ahead of the event
Ahead of President Trump's planned rally at Mount Rushmore celebrating the Fourth of July, protesters blockaded the main road to the monument. The protesters shut down the road leading to the event grounds for four hours by placing three vans in the road and removing the tires. A multi-generational gathering, led by many young women and including different tribes, peacefully held the line. They were supported by some Black Lives Matter protesters. They were pepper sprayed by the police and National Guard and were met with degrading comments Trump supporters.
