Strike in Baixa do Cassange in Portuguese controlled Angola leads to generalized revolt and the Angolan War of Independence

Although beginning as a labor dispute with a strike demanding better working conditions and higher wages at a Portuguese-Belgian cotton plantation company, it erupted into a wider revolt. It's considered the spark that began the Angolan War of Independence from Portugul, as well as the wider wars for independence from Portugal of Guinea-Bissau and Mozambique. The day is a national holiday in Angola, celebrated as Colonial Martyrs Repression Day.
