350 Viet Cong guerrillas held their position against 1,400 US Army and allied South Vietnamese troops who also had 13 APCs, 15 helicopters, and 13 war planes. Five American helicopters were lost along with 89 killed and the Viet Cong successfully retreated in the night, losing only 18 fighters.
