From the Martin Sostre Institute: "Martin Ramirez Sostre was a revolutionary anarchist political prisoner and one of the most successful jailhouse lawyers of the twentieth century." Martin was politicized in prison and would go on to run a very influential radical bookstore in Buffalo, NY the Afro-Asian Bookshop. As is shown by the name of his shop, Sostre was passionate about anti-imperialism. After being arrested for his alleged involvement in the rebellions of 1967, Sostre became a very well known political prisoner in the US. A successful campaign freed him in 1975. Martin's writings are available online, as well as a movie about his life and case.
