After Lord Carnarvon was successful in the Confederation of Canada through the 1867 British North America Act, British colonial authorities in South Africa wanted to attempt a similar approach and began a war against the Zulu Kingdom for the purpose of creating a ruling white minority over a black majority in South Africa. This battle occurred 11 days after British forces invaded Zululand, and a force of ~20,000 Zulu warriors attacked 1800 British colonial soldiers. Although they were vastly disadvantaged in weaponry (using only spears against the British soldiers armed with rifles and 7-pounder mountain guns, the Zulu warriors overwhelmed the soldiers and won a decisive victory. More than 1300 British soldiers were killed including 52 officers. It is remembered as British Army's worst defeat against an indigenous foe equipped with vastly inferior military technology

From WCH: On 22 January 1826, members of the Acjachemen Nation, who were field hands at the San Juan Capistrano mission, California, refused to work, engaging in what may have been the first farm worker strike in the state, then part of Mexico. Over 100 workers gathered, rose in rebellion and demanded that the local padre (priest) be placed in stocks. They reportedly insulted the local captain of the guard, and told him that if he would not put the priest in stocks, then they would put him in instead. There was a long history of resistance by Native Americans to the missions and other colonisers before this point, so this may just be the first reported work stoppage.

Following a battle just four days earlier where American forces had won, British forces allied with ~800 Indigenous forces launched a counter attack on Americans at Frenchtown, on the River Raisin. Tecumseh was not involved in this battle with the Native forced being led by Wyandot leaders Roundhead and Walks-in-the-Water. As was representative of the confederacy, the 800 Native warriors included Shawnee, Potawatomi, Ottawa, Chippewa, Delaware, Miami, Winnebago, Creek, Sauk, and Fox tribes. The Americans were attacked in early morning and stood their ground for ~20 minutes. Famously, Roundhead demanded US Brigadier General James Winchester's uniform which led to a legend that he surrendered in his nightshirt. American losses were 397 killed, 40 wounded and 547 captured with an additional 30-100 killed after capture.
